Who we are
StreamingCompass (streamingcompass.com) is a free guide that shows where movies and series are streaming legally. Henrik Lantz Hedström runs the guide and is responsible for the personal information described here.
For any privacy question or request, email contact@streamingcompass.com.
What we collect
You can use the guide without an account, and we don’t ask for your name to search or browse.
When you load a page, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes connection data such as your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, and the time. Cloudflare uses it to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. Our request logs are kept for no more than 7 days.
When you send the contact form, we receive your name, email address, topic, message, the page you sent it from, and the country your connection comes from. The message is delivered to our inbox by email so we can reply.
Cookies and storage on your device
We don’t set cookies. We store one setting in your browser’s local storage so the cookie notice stays closed after you dismiss it. Your country and language are part of the page address and aren’t stored on your device.
We don’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
Services that load in your browser
Posters, photos, and service logos load from TMDB (The Movie Database), so TMDB receives your IP address when your browser fetches them. Searches are sent to TMDB from our server, without your IP address.
Trailers come from YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; after that, Google’s privacy policy applies to the video.
On a movie’s page, your browser asks Apple for Apple TV Store rental and purchase prices, so Apple receives your IP address. The request carries no cookies.
Affiliate links
Some buttons are affiliate links to services such as Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+, and NOW. When you open one, the service and its affiliate network, such as Amazon Associates, Apple, Awin, CJ, or TradeDoubler, may place or read cookies in your browser to record that you came from StreamingCompass. If you then start a trial, subscribe, rent, or buy, we may earn a commission. The networks report referrals to us without your name or contact details.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Once you leave StreamingCompass, the other service’s privacy policy applies.
Why we use your information
We use connection data to run the guide and keep it secure, and contact messages to answer you. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a working, secure guide and in replying to messages you send us. The setting in local storage is strictly necessary to remember your choice.
We don’t sell personal information, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
How long we keep it, and who receives it
Contact messages are kept while we handle your request and deleted within 12 months after it’s resolved, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Request logs are deleted after 7 days.
We share personal information only with the providers that run the guide: Cloudflare for hosting and email delivery, TMDB for images, and Apple for store prices. Some of them process data in the United States. Those transfers rely on safeguards recognized under the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, you can also object to our use of it, ask us to restrict it, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali in Italy.
California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don’t sell or share personal information as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those terms, and we don’t use sensitive personal information. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email contact@streamingcompass.com. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm the request comes from you.
Children and changes
The guide isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll say so on this page before it takes effect.
